Our team attended the Ernie
Clayton Tournament in Welland, Ontario this past weekend.
Our
division games were all tight with all 4 of our games being decided by a single
goal
In game 1 was against the
Barrie Mumba’s and we came away with a hard-fought 3-2 win. Game 2 was against
the Oakville Rangers who gave us all we could handle but we came away with a
2-1 victory. In game 3, as against the Barrie Rockets, this was again a tight
game, both goalies played very well they kept the game scoreless until less
than 2 minutes to play and finally Barrie snuck one by our goalie for a 1-0
loss. Since we had a small division of teams only the top 2 teams advanced
directly to the finals. We finished in 1st place;
we were matched up to play the Oakville Rangers once again. We had a little pep
talk with the entire team the night before back at our hotel, the coaching
staff told them what it will take to win, we were up against a team that we
beat in the round robin, so they had a huge incentive to beat us. Prior to the
game in the locker room, we reminded the players about our talk the night
before, there wasn’t much more that needed to be said. The team was focused and
wanted to close out the mission to walk away as Champions, we played as best as
we have all year and came away with a 3-0 victory and were the U16 Division
Champions.
Congratulations to all the Players, you earned the right
to be called Champions, you all represented KMHA and the city of Kitchener with
Pride
Coach Scott.
