Heart of Gold
'The golden age is before us, not behind us.'

-William Shakespeare

The last weekend of November set the stage for the Kitchener Lady Rangers as they took part in the Stratford Aces Festival City Challenge. Each and every girl was given their role and they performed without flaw.

Flashing back to the hearbreaking loss to Sudbury in the finals at Fall Fest, these Kitchener Girls were left hungry for nothing less than gold, and their attitude and dertermination could be felt from the opening face off. Every shift, every line, every player, all competing as one with one goal in mind.

Was the difference outstanding goaltending from Eden? Yes. Was the difference stingy tight defence? Yes. Was the difference an explosive all out offense? Yes. In fact every bounce seem to the way of the Blue, Red and White. Eden and her security blanket of Defenders allowed only two goals in all three games, while the offense netted and exceptional sixteen.

But what made all the difference was how the team played together, crisp spot on passing, hard shooting, aggressive puck management and and terrific man to man coverage. The sixteen goals scored by the Rangers were spread out over all three lines and throughout seven different players. Ashley (5), Lane (5), Katina (2), Avery, Hannah, Alex and Ayrial. Assits going to Brooke (2), Ella, Ayrial, Lane, Ashley and Madelyne.

A superiour defensive stance from Amanda, Natalie, Michelle and Ella helped rushing defenders Katina and Hannah take deep offensive chances with the smart defensive forwards like Nicole and Issy making sure no gaps were left behind.  Everyone did their job and more.

Special thanks to teams from Stratford and South Huron for making the tournament exciting and fun for all involved. Further thanks for Tournament Organizers, Staff, Volunteers, Coaches and Players. Thank you for the welcome to a picturesque city for a picturesque game.
