New Look Rangers win 2 on the weekend
With a few lineup tweeks and 15 goals the Blue Rangers swept their weekend series with St. Catherines and Brantford.
Both games were come from behind victories. Saturday the Hurricanes got off to a quick 3-1 start, but our Rangers battled back to tie the game early in the second and then take the lead they never surrendered. 2 goals each from Daniel, Ethan S, and Adam with singles to Dawson and a player to be named later (my apologies - Coach Ian's brain can't handle 15 goals in one weekend) Shutdown play by Daniel, Adam and Nathan on St. Catherines' #16 and stellar backup by Vance led Blue to an 8-5 victory. Congratulations to Stewy for his stellar play and for winning the Blue Helmet.
Sunday saw the Blue take their game south to the very busy Gretzky Centre. Who knew swimming in February was so popular? Rangers gave up an early goal then stormed back with 7 straight in a 7-2 win. Ryan rebounded from a tough start on Saturday with a great game and won the Blue Helmet. New forwards Tomas and Jack and new defence Will (not Lefty but Righty) and Dominican E were our lineup changes. Great rushes from Hunter, Ethan S and Nathan got the puck to the boys up front and our forwards scored with Daniel and Dawson scoring 2 each and singles to Seth, Ethan R and Adam.
With new found confidence and a scoring touch we will take our game to St.Catherines for tournament games against Waterloo, Cambridge and London. Please note: there is a mandatory swimming party on Friday at 2pm in the hotel pool.
