We were looking forward to our first tournament in Cambridge.
The boys came out on Friday night to play Brantford and the score didn’t reflect the team play. They were passing, shooting, skating and yet the score didn’t reflect their hard work.
Saturday we went on to play Cumberland who again were a great team and I kept thinking this was our game. It is the best game the boys have played all year. They competed with Cumberland the full game and never gave up. The score ended 2-0 for Cumberland but I am extremely proud of the way they played. If we can continue to play like that, we will compete.
Saturday afternoon game, I think the legs were tired and we were not use to having a third game to play. Although they came out with a 3-0 win it wasn’t our best game. I explained to the boys that just because you win doesn’t mean you had a great game. I think the Cumberland game was ours and we still lost, but the effort was great from everyone and to me that was our team win.
It was great to see the boys at bowling after our game, mixing and mingling and getting to know some of the players they hadn’t already. That is the bonding that will bring this team together win or lose. We have a big weekend with two away games and then off to Burlington Tournament first weekend in December.
Come to every practice and game ready to play hard, listen and learn and we will do well as a team.
