End of Season Progress Report
Well the season has come to an end and the playoffs are about to embrace us.

Well our regular season has come to and end and the coaching staff would like to take this time to reflect on our season. We didn't finish in the standings where we hoped we would but the regular season it a time to work on the little things, bond as a team, play as a team, work as a team but most of all, develop as players and as a team.
At the beginning of the season in my open statement on our home page on our team website I mentioned that finishing first or high in the standings, scoring goals, winning tournaments would be the reward of coming to practices and games, working hard, focusing on your responsibilities, following the game plan, listening, playing as a team and not individuals would be the reward of accomplishing the above. We had spurts of some of the tasks that were put in front accomplished but not all were successful. All players have to realize that playing on a rep team takes commitment and that we all need to suck in our pride and play some roles we may not be accustomed to or work on areas we already thought we were doing ok in but most importantly work on areas that we are weak on or that need attention. I personally noticed throughout the course of the year that most players are afraid of making mistakes and become hesitant on taking chances because they may make a mistake. I have reassured them that we will ALL make mistakes, the pros make mistakes and we will certainly make them too. Just listen to the intermission on tv as to what the commentators discuss, they break down what mistakes are made within that period. What the players have to learn throughout their hockey career (and in life) is they will make mistakes but to understand how and why the mistake happened or occurred and learn why and how we made the mistake and learn how not to let it reoccur again. I know its easier said than done as our kids are only 9 and 10 year olds but believe me, they have recognized some of their mistakes and they have learned why and how they have happened and they have corrected these mistakes but its an on going issue that will continue throughout their hockey and throughout life.
Having said the above, we as a coaching staff have noticed the team getting better in the later half of the season, finding some confidence as individuals and as a team which they will need to carry this into the playoffs. The coaching staff is totally committed to this team all has full confidence in each and every player on this team. The last pep talk we had with the kids on our last game of the season was that we had a good finish to the season and the playoffs are ahead of us and we all start at zero and not to have other teams hold our destiny of how we will either be successful or unsuccessful in the playoffs but hold our own destiny of how we will do in the playoffs. We've played each team twice, we know how they play and they know how we play. Come prepared to games and practices, work hard and be focused, listen, play as a team and to leave nothing on the table at the end of each game.
The coaching staff is very excited with the upcoming playoffs, our first goal is to come out strong in our first shift and go from there, take each shift as they come, not look too far ahead of ourselves and not to look to far into the future until we have taken care of the present.

Good luck to each player in the upcoming playoffs, show'em what we have.

Coach Scott
