Playoff Game #10 vs Brantford
The season has come to and end but Ranger Red had the last say of the game.

The season came to an end on a awesome sunny and warm day on Sunday, an hour later than we expected but never the less it came to an end. With the anticipation of a noon start time we all realized once we arrived to the arena that our game had a scheduling issue but it gave the team and parents that extra hour to bond. Some used up their energy finding the small corners of the arena, some sat out on the front steps soaking up the sunshine and some went shopping and found something to eat.
Once the game got started, we got into penalty troubles quickly, we were 2 men short within the first two minutes of the game. The power killing until did an awesome job almost killing both penalties, unfortunately Brantford score near the end of the second penalty. We spent the majority of the first period and part of the second period killing penalties which held back our offensive momentum.
Although we lost, the team finished off the game showing the opposition, parents and each other that we weren't about to leave Brantford quietly, Cohen scored with 2.7 seconds left in the game to put a little exclamation mark on the game showing everyone that we didn't give up. That send a very possitive message, we don't give up no matter what, always work hard right up until the last buzzer and that exactly what the team did. I was very proud to the team. I know going into this game its a bit hard to get motivated knowing this is our last game of the season but the pre-game speach was about being a single team unit, making Ranger Red determine where Brantford finished in the standings, I wanted kids to have some sence of meaning for this game. Prior to this game, Brantford could finish in first or at worse at second. Obviously finishing first would give them the lower seeded oppontent but I wanted the kids to let us dictate where Brantford finish and not let Brantford have an easy win. I think the team made Brantford earn their 2 points.
On a personal note, I want to thank each and every child on this team, I thourouly enjoyed myself which allowed me to have a very enjoyable season. Having this been my first official season coaching behind the bench as an Assistant Coach and I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of kids, we've had so many laughs throughout the season and many memories I'll cherish forever. Thank you parents for being patient with me, I know a losing season can make for a very long and difficult season but I'm hoping this will be a positive character building lesson for each child, I know I've learned plenty and will bring that forward with me in my future coaching career.
AAA tryouts start April 17th at Sportsworld at 5:15pm and I encourage all players to attend the tryouts for atleast the minimum to get the experience at practicing at an higher level, playing and practicing with friends you might normally get the chance to and the opportunity of making new friends.
Thanks you all players, parents, sibling and relitives for a great year and I wish all the players the best of luck no matter where you end up playing next season.
