Quoth The Rangers 'Nevermore'
“Once upon a midnight dreary, Ranger Mums had eyes so teary,

On the ice their daughters flew, they won the game four to two,

A cheer so loud right to the core: Quoth the Rangers ‘we want more.’”

With only one game remaining in the regular season, the Belles in Blue invaded the Waterloo Recreation Center to take on their Regional Rival Ravens. Up to this point the young ladies have been kept from the win column, but had never once given up, and you could feel the momentum shifting. The atmosphere leading into the game was exciting, these girls came to play.

Two minutes into the first period the Rangers took off, with an unassisted goal from Captain Nicole the Rangers took the lead. A lead that held up, thanks to the terrific puck control of Goal Keeper Krista, until the Ravens tied the game with five minutes remaining in the second, and then took the lead four minutes later.

After an inspiring chat with Coach Cam during the intermission the Rangers took to the ice in the third with one thing on their mind, Win. Ayrial slid an up ice centering pass to Allison who drove the puck high and deep into the defending net, Paige on the score sheet with the second assist. Less than a minute later Maddy and Nicole drove to the net again, with Nicole sliding one in on a quick pass from Maddy.

The girls had the lead and they were not letting go, with a full seven minutes remaining both teams continued drives back and forth, Krista pouncing on every puck that came close. Every girl working together making sure each Waterloo chance was pushed back over the blue line, even killing a two minute tripping call to Hannah with four minutes on the clock.

Just over one minute remained when the Ravens pulled their net minder for one last push. The Rangers kept clearing, Ayrial just missing the empty net on a dump out. Twelve seconds remained when Allison again picked up the frozen puck and made a charge for the vacant blue paint. With six seconds remaining she slipped it in, sealing a Ranger victory.

The Girls on the bench exploded with cheers of joy, exhaling a deep breath they had been holding for quite some time, and as time expired, Krista was mobbed by her teammates. Every girl on every shift worked their hardest, making sure the regular season ended on a high note and their confidence solidified moving into the post season.

Congratulations on your regular season play girls, and continued success into the post season and Provincials.
