Girls Greeted by Gold
Kitchener Girls Hockey Day has received word that they will be joined by a remarkable Canadian Women’s Hockey Icon. Two time Olympic Gold Medalist, five time World Championship Gold Medalist, seven time Nations Cup Gold Medalist and 2005 IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship All Star Cheryl Pounder.

cheerios100_7430.jpg    Cheryl, who was born in Montreal, has spent most of her hockey years in Southern Ontario and in 1997 was Team Captain of the Wilfred Laurier Lady Hawks, who inducted her into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.

Cheryl’s commitment to Women’s Hockey in Canada has been nothing less than inspiring to all that have been touched by her. A highly regarded and sought after Motivational Speaker, Cheryl continues to bring passion and an unrelenting determination as she continues her hockey career with the Mississauga Chiefs of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League while enjoying motherhood to two wonderful little girls of her own.

We wish nothing but continued success to an already storybook career for Cheryl and wait with adoration and admiration for her early morning arrival on Girls Hockey Day.
