2 Big Wins puts Team Blue in Driver's Seat!
Team Blue controls its own destiny after convincing wins on Friday in the first day of competition in the MD Alliance Championships in Stratford. Team Blue started the day with a 4-2 win over North London and followed that up with a 9-0 win over Stratford.
Our first game was the longest game we have played this year, as two power outages caused our game to run just under 2 hours. Despite the delays we skated away with a well deserved win as Team Blue hockey returned. Good passing, defense involved in the offensive end and solid goaltending was the order of the day. Leads of 2-0, 2-1, and 3-1 took us through the 2 delays. London scored early after play resumed but order was restored on the next shift as we scored our 4th goal and closed out the game.
The second game was not much of a contest, but our team showed respect for our opponent by trying not to run up the score. Forwards played defence and defence played forward for most of the second and third period. We hope to get our team game together after reducing our shots, upping our passes and playing positions we don't usually play for most of the game.
Although we scored 13 goals in 2 games, our team play was the story of the day. We hope to continue our unselfish play tomorrow, which should result in us playing on Sunday.
Next game is against St. Catherines at 9:10am at the Rotary Complex. Come out and cheer on your favourite team to help lead us to victory.
Go Blue!
