Down But Not Out
Last night we had an exciting game between Kitchener Blue and Red.  Right from the start we came out and had a few chances but could not convert on them.  Then in the first period Blue got a squeeker through the pads of Connor.  It looked as if the whistle had blown and then the puck slide across the line and was called a goal.  No problem we told the boys to shake it off and get going.  Well it really seemed to spark team Blue and they created some good chances but Connor made some good saves to keep us in the game.

Still attacking Blue scored another goal and went up 2-0.  The boys beared down and started working.  We came close when Maddux had a shot on net and Logan went hard to the net and almost banged in the rebound.  Good effort.  Then Antonio had a chance but just missed an open net from a nice pass by Cole.  We were starting to create more chances but we were not getting rewarded yet.  The boys seemed to get frustrated.  Our focus was to get the first one and then build on that.  Our D had to get the puck out and I felt that for the most part they did.  Rochon and Nathan had their sticks out everywhere making it hard for Blue to get by them.  Angelo and Scott closed the gaps really well and they had some good scoring opportunities as well.  They read the play well and worked really hard to keep the puck in the offensive zone. Jack F and Ben had a good game getting the puck to the corners when we did get into trouble.  Jack F took a big hit and did not play the rest of the game.  He was a bit shaken up but he is fine.  Third period came and we were down but not out.  A quick pep talk by the coach to get these boys pumped up and ready.  In walked Owen and passed the puck over to Sam who let a wrist shot go right into the top shelf.  Beautiful goal and an even better pass.  Awesome. That was the goal we needed.  Shortly after that Aidan connected with a pass from Antonio and Angelo to put a shot right into the back of the net.  That's it boys shoot the puck.  With the taste of blood the boys kicked it into high gear and went for the jugular.  A few shifts later Cole, who won hard hat worker of the game, connected on a pass from Scott.  It was another beautifull goal.  From in close Cole went top cheese to give Red a 3-2 lead. We didnt't stop there.  On a power play Antonio connected with a one timer from Aidan to give us a 4-2 lead.  Jack and Quinten were buzzing around the net as well.  Both were fighting for space to get the puck to eachother.  They worked pretty hard all game.  Our fifth goal came from Maddux who tapped in the puck from in close.  5-2 win for Red.  We were down but not out.  The boys never gave up and fought hard to get back into it and win it.  Great game to be a part of.  Awesome comeback boys.  Keep up the hard work.
