Round Two
The second round of the LLFHL 2012- 2013 season is now complete and if you thought Round 1 was exciting, Round 2 blew the doors off!

After a physical three game series with the Windsor Wildcats, the Kitchener Lady Rangers Bantam AA team opened up round two of the LLFHL Playoffs against the first place London Devilettes. In a faster paced first game, the KLR managed to squeeze out a 1 - 1 tie against a technically sound, more disciplined Devilettes.

The return trip home for a “noon Saturday” game two was not the best showing of the season. However a determined effort as the puck sat on the goal line resulted in a late game goal, allowing the Lady Rangers to come away with a 2 – 1 win. The stage was set for a Sunday evening game three with the Lady Rangers needing a regulation win or a tie to advance.

Much like game two, the Lady Rangers sputtered in spots and found themselves headed once again to overtime. The sudden death five minutes was nothing like the first forty two minutes of play. Although the Lady’s generated opportunity and drove the bus, a second straight shoot-out round was going to determine who would advance.

It’s at this point that any resemblance to the “Round 1” shoot-out ends and the door to the Nichol’s arena get blown off. In a shoot-out that will be talked about by the Ladies for generations to come “Dana and the D” kept everyone standing, cheering, clapping and crying over the course of a TWENTY-SIX SHOOTER (please see the web site video!) shoot-out. Many thanks to the London Devilettes for a great round of hockey. We look forward to seeing you again in Provincials.

Congratulations to Ms. Lucyk (3rd shooter), Ms. Wood (6th shooter) and Ms. Bonn (lucky number 13th shooter) for the great “defensive” display of “offense”. As for Ms. Colombo, were not exactly sure what to say so “wow”, “amazing”, “well done”, “well deserved”!!

One more round ladies! Step up, continue to play hard and drive that bus!! Remember you don’t always get what you wish for, you get what you work for.

On behalf of Amber, Bill and Tim, congratulations to all on a great round two!
