Challenging test in Cleveland...
The team took to the road on Friday for a weekend of toe tapping hockey at the Rock n Roll tournament. The boys opened with an unbelievable game against a tough squad from Tonawanda who were not happy to lose to the Rangers.
A bigger and physical US team kept hammering the Rangers along the boards but the Kitchener boys wouldn't be intimidated and fought back by standing their ground and taking control of the game.

The 2-1 victory was a great opening salvo for the Rangers who next faced a higher ranked team from North York. Although Kitchener fell 3-1 to the team, the game was a good test for the Rangers.
Early Sunday the boys played a team from just outside Cleveland, the Geauga Maple Leafs. The team needed a win to advance and managed a 2-0 result. The win secured a spot in the tournament championship.
The final game put the Rangers back up against the North York Knights who rolled through the tournament with a 3-0 record scoring 18 goals and only allowing 2 against. Kitchener had its hands full from the puck drop and the North York team powered through to a 6-0 win.
The Rangers faced some stiff competition in Cleveland allowing the boys to work on their communication and team work. Solid goal tending from both net minders anchored the team throughout the weekend. Taking home the second place trophy was a good building block for the start of the Rangers season. Best of all, the boys kept the three pillars of the team at the fore in Cleveland - value, respect and having fun.

Way to go Rangers!
