Our first tournament Pink the Rink - Etobicoke
The Novice Lady Rangers had a full weekend of hockey in the Etobicoke Pink the Rink Tournament.

The girls started first thing Friday against the tournament hosts Etobicoke Dolphins.  Despite carrying the play for the first two periods, the game was scoreless going into the third.  Megan (assists Jenna & Maggie) notched the winner mid way through the third.  Stella (assist Madison) added one more for insurance for a 2 to 0 win.  Macy and Skyla were solid between the posts for the shut out.

In their second game of the day the Lady Rangers took on an aggressive North Bay squad.  Unfortunately the Lady Rangers could not put the puck past a strong North Bay goalie.   The Lady Rangers suffered a 4 to 0 loss.  The game was much closer than the final score indicated.

The Lady Rangers were up and at it early Saturday morning to face their LLFHL foes, the Belmont Blazers.  The girls went toe to toe with the Blazers for two periods.  Belmont potted a goal late in the second period, and then added two quick goals at the beginning of the third period.  The Lady Rangers played hard.  There was some exceptional checking done in this game by Madison.

The Lady Rangers ended up in 3rd place in their pool, so in quarter final play they took on the North York Storm who finished 2nd in their pool.  The North York goalie stood on her head at times to stop the puck to no avail though as the Lady Rangers pulled out a 3 to 2 win.  Goal scorers were Jenna (assists Megan & Maggie), Stella, and Madison (assists Jessica & Jordan).

With the win the Lady Rangers were onto the semi finals against none other than the Belmont Blazers.  The Blazers came out flying in the first period but our goalie Macy stood tall and shut them down.  Macy's play was enough to get our girls pumped up and they got back into the game.  Belmont netted a goal late in the second period.  Down 1 to 0 in the third period Megan evened things up with a short handed goal.  At the end of 32 minutes the game was tied at 1 to 1.  Midway through the overtime period, a Belmont sniper shot one past Macy for a Belmont victory 2 to 1.  Macy was absolutely fantastic in net in this game!!!  Belmont went on to win the tournament.

The coaching staff and parents are very proud of the way our Lady Rangers played this weekend.  The girls had lots of fun, laughs and worked really hard in their first tournament as a team.  It was a very positive experience for them and something to build on.

Great work Lady Rangers!!
