Superman: A Hockey Legend?
After spending the morning in a fast paced, lengthy practice on Sunday, the future stars of this year’s Kitchener Lady Ranger Atom A team made their first team appearance in a media press conference the same afternoon. If the enthusiasm is any indication of things to come, this year’s team is ready to compete at a high level.

Much of the conference was intended to bring the group together to get to know each other and present them to their fans. However even before the event kicked off, it was clear that all of these athletes were very comfortable with one another and had no trouble introducing themselves and each other to a very appreciative audience.

One thing that was abundantly clear was the amount of Hockey knowledge already instilled in their young minds. Half way through the day, and thanks to Emily, it was revealed that not only was Clark Kent a Reporter for the Daily Planet by day Superman by night, he also found time to be a very successful NHL star. That would explain why, even in 2013, every arena has a hidden phone booth.

With behavior and poise well beyond their years, this is a team that will surely not lack in laughter and smiles. A hunger and passion bubbles just beneath the surface of all seventeen participants of this 2013/2014 campaign, an observation not lost on first time Lady Ranger Coach Dave who is eager to jump right in.

Coach Dave is joined behind the bench by Assistants Al (also a first time Lady Ranger), Doug and Kevin (both returning from last years A Team) as well at Melissa rounding out the Trainer position. Combined, this is a bench staff has well over 100 years of coaching experience, something that will come in very handy during competition in a very deep and talented LLFHL grouping.

It is apparent that there is still work to be done, but with a room full of accomplished athletes and some of the best Hockey minds in Southern Ontario, there is a very rich talent pool to work with. Kitchener Lady Rangers Atom A, you got our attention and we cannot wait to watch you shine.

They may not have Superman, but I am sure they will do just fine without him.
