Champions in Brantford!
The Kitchener Jr Rangers Atom Selects battled through some stiff competition on the weekend to claim Gold at the Brantford Tournament of Friends, culminating with a 3-1 win over the Chedoke Express.

KJR started out the tourney with two convincing wins over Dofasco and Dundas on Friday.  Saturday was a different story as the Rangers squeaked by the host 99ers in the last game of the round robin to finish first in Group B.  Saturday night's Quarter Final game vs Waterloo was also a nail biter with the Rangers pulling out a come-from-behind 2-1 win.

The semi finals rolled in the only team to defeat KJR this season - the Guelph Jr. Gryphons.  A 2nd period goal was enough to advance the Rangers to the final against the Chedoke Express.  A sluggish start proved costly as the Rangers were down 1-0 early but battled back with three unanswered goals to capture the Tournament Gold against a very good Chedoke club...a team that we most likely will see in Fort Erie in April.

The Rangers get one day off before hitting the practice ice Tuesday and then hosting Cambridge on Wednesday at Grand River.  Then the end of next week, we're back in tournament mode as we participate in the Dofasco Steelhawk Tournament.

It was a great weekend for all the boys and parents.  Thanks to everyone who carpooled and went out of their way to help other families (and to everyone who hooked up a brother with tea...lol).
