Rangers Earn Gold in Hamilton!
KJR took to the road for their last tournament of the season.  Just like in Brantford two weeks ago, the Rangers claimed GOLD with a dramatic 2-1 win over the Mt Hamilton Blues.

After a convincing opening win over Stoney Creek, KJR narrowly escaped past Mt. Hamilton and Dofasco before finishing off the round robin with a solid shutout of Downsview.

The #1-seeded Rangers faced #4 Burlington in the semis and controlled the play throughout, earning a 4-0 victory and another date with Mt Hamilton, who disposed of Downsview in the other semi.

Despite the territorial advantage, KJR couldn't put the puck past the Blues' goalie until midway through the 2nd period.  However, less than a minute later, the Blues tied it up.  That was it for the scoring and we headed for overtime.  With 2.9 seconds left in OT, Nick potted the winner on a breakaway, sealing the championship for our Rangers.

Because of reaching the final in both tournaments, KJR has officially maxxed out their schedule of 30 games (Alliance rules).  We have 6 games (4 home, 2 away) remaining on the schedule before the April Provincials in Ft. Erie.  Next up is the rubber match with the talented Gryphons on Wednesday night at Grand River Arena at 7:45 pm.

The staff couldn't be more proud of these Rangers and the "arms on the shoulders pic" says it all, doesn't it?  This team has come together on and off the ice and they will be a tough team to beat in two months.
