2014-2015 Alliance Champions
The Minor Atom AAA Jr.Rangers put an exclamation mark on a great season by capturing the Alliance Championship Sunday March 15th.

Championship Season

On Sunday March 15th, the Kitchener Jr Rangers Minor Atom AAA team completed their highly successful season by sweeping the Sun County Panthers to claim the 2014-15 Alliance Championship.

After working through some early season growing pains, the Jr.Rangers quickly found their stride and put together an amazing season with a 48-11-9 record with an impressive 224 goals for and only 78 goals against over 68 games.  They battled down to the wire with Hamilton and Waterloo, needing until the last weekend of the season to capture first place in Alliance East.  The team focused on an aggressive fore-check which resulted in long stretches played in the offensive zone.  When opponents were able to break out, they encountered a hard back-check, steady puck-moving defense, and goaltenders who refused to let the puck past them.  This was evidenced by allowing only 35 goals against in 32 league games played.

First place in the East meant a match-up with the Lakers from Huron-Perth.  After sweeping the Lakers in three straight, the Jr Rangers continued to roll through the London Jr Knights, also sweeping them in three straight games.  This set up a final series versus the first place team from Alliance West, Sun County – an offensive powerhouse who had averaged more than five goals scored per game for the season.

True to form, the Jr Rangers continued with the style which had made them so successful, suffocating the Panthers and capitalizing on their own chances to sweep the hard fought series in four games and claim the Alliance Championship!

10-0-0 in the playoffs, with only 8 goals allowed while scoring 31 – a Championship Season indeed!  The players should be commended on their determination, discipline and accomplishments.  Truly a season to be proud of!

Thank you Kids!
