Minor Atom MD Blue 2014-15 Alliance Champions
It was a hard fought Alliance Championships with the winner being determined in an all Kitchener final. Minor Atom MD Red and Blue fought all game with Blue winning 1-0.

How it all went down

After what seemed like an eternity (almost 2 weeks) without a game, Blue faced the West Alliance Championship winners, London Bandits Black. The bandits had only lost 2 games all season yet Blue managed to pot 7 goals while only allowing 3 against for the win.

The next game had Blue playing the North London Nationals.  The game saw Blue dominating play while the North London goal tending really held them in the game.  Blue's forechecking and backchecking were instrumental in this win with the final seeing Blue take it 5 to 1.

The third game of the round robin was a rematch of the Alliance Central/East finals with Blue facing off against Kitchener Junior Rangers Minor Atom MD Red. It was another game in which the forechecking and backchecking, as well as passing and hard work all played a large factor. The game was an anomaly in the series between these two strong teams, seeing Blue win the game 8-1.

The stage was set for the final.  Blue would be facing off against the winner of the Semi, who turned out to be Kitchener Red.

The final game

Both teams had played each other a total of 8 times, this game being the ninth. The teams came out strong.  Neither one wanting to make a mistake. The players fought hard every shift from the puck drop to the final buzzer. The game was decided by a single goal, that being scored in the first period off of a great foot pass by Blue.  Final score, 1-0 for for Minor Atom MD Blue. CHAMPIONS!!

Note from the coaches

The team came a long way.  The playoffs started slowly for Blue.  We couldn't seem to get it all together.  That all changed on February 22nd.  Since that day, the team went 12-1-2 but most importantly, won its last 8 games in a row to secure the East/Central Championship and the Alliance Championship.

The coaching staff couldn't be more proud of the team.  They took all that they had learned throughout the year and applied it perfectly over that stretch.  Ultimately it all resulted in the goal that the coaches had set at the beginning of the season.  The players bonded as a group, became a close knit "family" and believed in each other.  As coaches, we couldn't have asked for more.

I, believe it or not, am at a loss for words.  I cannot express how glad I am to have been a part of this.  The coaching staff, kids and parents were all amazing.  My wife, Wendy, was the best manager we could have ever hoped for.

WE DID IT!!

A big thank you to everybody involved with the team.
