KJR in Alliance East Finals!!
Your KJR Minor Peewee MD Blue battled hard this past weekend, narrowly defeating the rival Waterloo Wolves 4 points to 2 in the Alliance East semis, thus setting up this week's championship series with the Burlington Bulldogs.
The semis were determined during the 10-game playoff round-robin where KJR finished in 2nd place in the East loop while the Wolves finished just two points behind in third.
KJR came out flying in Game 1 at Activa, soundly defeating the Wolves 3-1. If it weren't for the stellar play of the Waterloo goalie, the score would have been more decisive. Games 2 and 3, however, were more tight checking and neither team could really gain an edge. Both games finished in hard fought ties, therefore advancing the Rangers to the East final against the upset-minded Bulldogs who swept the #1 seeded Brantford Saints.
The Rangers and Bulldogs have faced each other four times this season with the Rangers taking both regular season games 5-1 and 2-0 while both playoff matches finished in ties. The Rangers will have their hands full as Burlington has proven that they can skate with anyone. Game 1 opens at the Aud on Thursday night.
The winner of this series joins North London Northridge, London Orange, and the host St. Catharines Hurricanes in the Alliance Championships April 10 - 12.
