The Major Atom AAA Jr. Rangers ended the regular season with a record of 22 wins, 6 loses, 4 ties and amassed a league best 127 goals for and 41 goals against.  After earning a bye for the first round of the playoffs, Kitchener faced the Hamilton Huskies in the second round.  The Jr. Rangers defeated Hamilton in three straight games, by scores of 4-0, 3-1 and 2-1, winning the series six points to zero.  Next up, we faced the London Jr. Knights who ended the season atop the Western Conference.  The first two games of the series were nail biters, as London managed to tie both games (1-1, 3-3) in the final minute of play.  After losing game three in overtime 1-0, the boys found themselves down four points to two and with their backs against the wall.  Not prepared to let their hockey season end early however, your Jr. Rangers fought back with great tenacity to even the series (2-0) and win the final game in London (2-1), earning a six point to four point series win and a ticket to the Alliance Championships.

The Jr. Rangers’ opponent for the Alliance Championship were their cross town rivals, the Waterloo Wolves.  The emotionally charged series saw the Wolves win the first game 4-3, with Kitchener winning the next two games by identical 3-1 scores.  With each game that passed, it appeared that more and more fans packed the arenas, eager to be part of the excitement.  Games four and five were hotly contested affairs that ended in 1-1 ties, with overtime unable to settle anything.  Game six shifted to Activa Arena where the Jr. Rangers were presented with the opportunity to clinch their second consecutive Atom Alliance Championship.  It was an exciting back and forth game in front of a full house.  When the final buzzer sounded Kitchener emerged victorious by a 3-1 margin and won the series and the Alliance Championship by an eight point to four point score.   By virtue of beating Waterloo, the Jr. Rangers also gained entry to the prestigious OHF Championships hosted by Hamilton in April.  Once again this year it has been a great season of hockey with still more excitement to come!!

            Congratulations Kitchener Jr. Rangers!!
