What a great time at the Peterborough Hockey Association's Thanksgiving A-AE Tournament!

The weekend started with a loss to a very tough Barrie Colts team on Friday morning.  We then went 3-0 in the rest of the round robin without allowing another goal.  All teams fought us hard and we fought back.

The boys came together as a team through activities at the hotel as well as through play on the ice.  That was evidenced by the steady improvement on the ice from game to game.

The tournament finals were on Sunday morning against the Barrie Colts.  We knew they were going to bring their top game so we had to bring ours, which we did. Much like the first game against Barrie, we went into the third period tied 1-1.  Unlike the first game though, we fought through adversity in the third and kept the score tied.  That led us to a shootout.  After each goalie surrendered only a single goal in the first 5 players from each team, we went to sudden death shootouts.  Both teams missed their first try and Barrie missed their second, in the seventh round which left the stage open for Matthew Gallant to score the game winner, which he did.  I would be remiss if I also didn't mention the outstanding job that Cole Henry did in goal, he stopped 6 of 7 shooters and made it look easy.  Great job Cole!

I could call out all the great plays that the team made over the weekend, from unselfish passing, to beautiful goals, backchecks, forechecks and general hard work but that would take pages and pages.

I would like to thank the boys, the parents, the social committee, Wendy and all the coaching staff.  Without all of you, this would not have been possible.

Well done boys!!
