A Classic tournament
It's been a while, so lot's to talk about.  First, the North Halton Fall Classic.  I think our best game of the season was our first of the tournament against Oakville.  The first half of the game was dead even.  The only interest was in the couple of penalties taken - Cayla took her first and Aspen drew a phantom cross checking penalty.  Oakville  eventually found the back of the net in the dying seconds of the 2nd to take the lead.

We battle all through the 3rd, had to fight off two power plays (Brittany took one and our little ruffian Aspen was handed her second of the game for body checking).  We waited as long as we could, but I finally Chloe with a minute and a half left to get the extra attacker.  It paid off as Sierra potted a good goal with assists going to Sammi and Avery with 42 seconds left in the game.  It felt like we just won the Olympics and it kept our chances of moving into the championships alive.

The next game was an easier test and we had a pretty easy time with the North Halton Red Devils taking it 3-0 on Saturday morning.  Sierra opened the scoring with an assist from Brittany.  Nicole worked hard to score an unassisted goal in the second, and Alex moved up to the wing and got the last one with an assist going to Nicole who had a big game.  With a win and a tie, we were sitting in second in our pool with Clarington Flames sitting in first - so it was all down to the final game of the round robin where a win would put us into the semi's.

Clarington could skate, but we were defensively strong.  The only difference in the first was that we were able to hold off their power play that resulted from Sammi's trip to the box for tripping.  They scored a pair in the second, so we found ourselves in a hole.  We desperately needed some offense in the third, and to no surprise, it was Avery that stepped up and rang a beautiful wrister from deep in the zone off the far side post to bring us to withing one (assisted by the lead singer in the dressing room, Taylor Keating).  We played well, but came up a little short.  Looking forward to our next tournament, Jason Cripps to continue our good tournament play.
