Happy New Year from the Novice Red
The Novice Red Junior Rangers head to Brantford this week to close out the first half of the season and 2016. So far this year the Jr Rangers have had fun both on and off the ice. Going 7-1-2 and tying for first place with the lowest goals against average in the Tier 1 division the Rangers were off to a good start as a team. In November, the boys travelled to Barrie for their first tournament of their year.  The Rangers faced good competition and battled hard through adversity, missing a number of players due to sickness, finishing the tournament on a strong note. As always, the boys represented KMHA with class and hard work.

In the second leg of the season after the re-tier the Rangers continued their hard work and team focus and again were poised for success. The boys took top spot never looking back finishing 6-0-1 and again keeping an impressive single digit goals against average on the board.

The Rangers travelled to the Nation’s Capital for a pre-Christmas tournament again facing some tough competition. The boys having been united to a full roster for the first time since Barrie played their hearts out. Although the weekend was short hockey wise after a close deciding 3rd game the boys were able to come together and experience what hockey has to offer outside of the rink, bonding with team mates, taking in the sites and gaining memories to last a life time. The boys represented both the team, coaching staff and us as parents very well. We were all very proud of them.

From a team perspective, the first half of the year could not have been better. Learning to play at the next level, playing short when team mates are missing and coming together as a team has been a big step in the team’s development this year. Looking at the stats the team has some impressive numbers. Every single player on the team has contributed to the team’s success thus far. The plus/minus rating has everyone in the positive and in the assist category every single player has contributed to our goal total. Being backed by strong goaltending and a commitment to each other the Novice Red continue to impress. Working together as a team has led to their success this season and will continue to be a trend for them in the months to come. The Red look forward to closing out this year on a strong note and working towards their goals in the New Year. From the coaches’ perspective, this team has been a great thrill to be a part of, representing our city, association and parent group each and every time they take the ice with hard work and a commitment to each other is nothing short of amazing. These 17 young boys have made both the coaching staff and parent group very proud to be a part of this experience with them and we all look forward to great things to come in 2017. On behalf of the players, coaches and parents we wish the minor hockey community success on and off the ice and everyone a safe and Happy New Year.
