Range Tie Hawks
The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Red team tied the Cambridge Hawks 1 to 1 in Game 1 of Play Down action.

Braydon Houlihan opened the scoring in the first period from Carter Bowman and Jacob Fisher but the goal wouldn't stand the test of time and the Hawks evened the score in the second period.

Aiden Radatus and the hawks goalie spent the third and over time in a duel that would settle nothing. Both goalies were hard to beat and turned aside quality scoring chances.

The Rangers wingers Brett Herniman, Nichaolas Zammit, Denver Heiman and Carter Niall won battles for the puck all game and were very dangerous on the fore check successfully putting pucks on net. Justin Hay and Conner Coughlin were effective in neutralizing the Hawks "Big Three" and were key components in the teams defensive plan.

Joshua McDonald made a beautiful diving play in the over time to save a goal and his partner, Keenan Hack, moved the puck like a wizard. Both Logan Hock and Noah Park were rock solid and defensively sound as always. Yianni Peppas and Rashaun Williamson kept the play to the outside and were fantastic at backing each other up and moving the puck out of the zone.

The series will move to Cambridge Saturday and back to Kitchener Sunday. The Rangers could see a fourth game in Cambridge if the rest of the games are as tightly matched and fought as the first.

Go Rangers!
