Rangers Drop First Game of Finals
The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Red team came up just short against the Waterloo Wolves Black team 3 to 2 in Game 1 of the Finals.

The Rangers played tentative and unsure for stretches in the game and didn't have that killer instinct or drive that has taken the team to the finals. It appeared near the end of the game the Rangers found their groove and the team will need to pick it up from where they ended the game to start game two should the Rangers plan to win the series.

Carter Niall scored the opening goal for the Rangers and was set up by Justin Hay and Nicholas Zammit in the second period. The goal cut the Wolves lead in half and picked up the Rangers spirit. It appeared the Rangers had tied the game but the referee had blown a quick whistle before the puck visibly crossed the line so it did not count and the Rangers found themselves down two again shortly after the disallowed goal. With the goalie pulled and on a power play, Connor Coughlin made a smart play putting the puck to the net and found Carter Bowman for the goal. Sadly, for the Rangers, the clock ran out with the Rangers down a goal.

On the bright side, the Rangers players did not feel they played their best game and have a couple days off to work on some things before the Saturday game. The Rangers are a proud group who will not give up without putting up a fight and you can expect a better performance Saturday.

Go Rangers!
