The Kitchener Jr
Rangers MD Red team travelled to St. Catherine’s to open the Alliance
Championships and looked tired in a 5 to 3 defeat by the Waterloo Wolves Black.
The Rangers got on the board first for the second game in a row against the Wolves but failed to hold the lead. Connor Coughlin continued his stellar play with a beauty goal off the faceoff. Coughlin also set up the second goal of the game by Yianni Peppas. Peppas had a nice hard shot that found the top of the net. In the third period the Rangers played better and showed they would not allow a slow start to get them down. Carter Niall scored from Logan Hock and Jacob Fisher.
The West London Hawks shutout the Oakridge Aeros to help the Rangers place 3rd after all teams played a first game. The fourth seeded team will be eliminated after the round robin play and the second and third place teams will play the semifinals with the first seed going straight through to the finals.
The Rangers team had a soul-searching talk after the game and the coaches remain in full confidence the team will respond and get back to their winning ways.
Let’s go Rangers!
