What a Weekend of Hockey!
Wow!  Thank you ladies for a wonderful first tournament of the 2016-17 season!

Thank you to the organizers of the Pink the Rink tournament in Etobicoke for organizing a first class event.

The coaches are very proud of the effort the girls displayed all weekend.  We are seeing very significant improvements from all of the girls.  The work they are putting into practice is definitely paying off!

In addition to the great hockey, the girls participated in a number of fun events on Friday afternoon.  We all know that the Kitchener Lady Rangers Novice B team has the best assistant coaches in the world but on Friday afternoon we tried to determine just who the best assistant coach really is!

The girls divided up into Team Lauren and Team Madman and competed in several events.  It was a tightly contested affair all the way through.  The first event involved the girls drawing life sized portraits of their assistant coaches including decorations.  Team Lauren was hopeful of an early lead but parent judges Greg and Nicole judged them to have tied at 9.5 each!

The teams then went outside to compete in several more events.  After popping balloons against coaches, passing hool-a-hoops, passing squeezes and dressing up some very supportive dads, Team Lauren was barely in the lead.

The final event saw the girls spreading vanilla pudding on the faces of their assistant coaches and then competing to see which team could stick the most marshmallows to their coach.  Team Madman was able to catch up and the competition ended in a tie!

As we said from the outset, the KLR Novice B team has the best assistant coaches!  Now we know for sure that they are both the best!  (After all, anybody who would let 6, 7 and 8 year olds smear vanilla pudding on their faces and then throw marshmallows at them must be the best!)

Thank you to the assistant coaches for being great sports.  Chad and Kevin were also awesome (and looked great I might add)!  Thank you to the parents that organized the meals and to Leanne for her generosity.  A special thanks to Manager Kelly for getting everything ready for our team building events on Friday.

Of course there was also an incredible amount of fun for the kids in the pool and around the hotel while the parents enjoyed some social time and we all got to know each other better.

What a great first tournament!  I am looking forward to all the hockey we have coming up!

Coach Chris
