Player of the Game(s)
With the two wins over the weekend we clinched a spot in B division for the second half of the season.
It was fitting Molly passed on the player of the week award to Olivia L. this week. 2 Goals by Olivia L. and 2 shutouts by Molly (and her posts) allowed us two well earned 1-0 wins. Olivia L. crashed the net to get the rebound from Amberly for her first goal and had a great spin around back hand into the bottom corner for her second goal.
The shutout was the result of a great team effort, Defence playing great in front of Molly, Forwards back checking and playing position to consistently get out of our end. We need to give a special shout out to Brooklin who cleared the puck just laying on the goal line after Molly got just enough of the puck to keep it out. Also a special shout out to Molly's post, they are a goalies best friend.
Great games this weekend. We have really started playing as a team. I think our team is exactly where we should be in the standings. Being in the B division in the second half of the year our games should challenge our team. Don't get me wrong, I think that we could stand our own in the A division and the players would be better off playing against stronger players, but, being in the B division we will have greater opportunity to get goals/wins and our young team will gain more confidence to carry into the following years.
