KJR Alumni Nic Hague Drafted To The NHL
Congratulations to KJR Alumni Nic Hague who was drafted in the 2nd Round, 34th overall, to the Las Vegas Golden Knights in this years NHL Draft.

Nic played his minor hockey in Kitchener.   In his Minor Midget AAA season Nic led the Minor Midget Jr. Rangers to the Alliance Championship and a berth in the OHL Cup.  This was the first Kitchener team to advance to the OHL Cup.  From Minor Midget Nic was drafted in the 2nd round 29th overall the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL.  Nic played for Team Alliance at the OHL Gold Cup and was selected to attend the Hockey Canada U17 Summer Evaluation in Calgary.   While the Fish wanted Nic to play in the OHL out of his minor midget season Nic and his family felt it was best to stay closer to home for one more season and for schooling.  Nic played for the Kitchener Dutchmen of the GOJHL.  During his season with the Dutchmen Nic was named the GOJHL Rookie of the Year.  As well, Nic was the only non CHL player to be named to the National U17 team for the World U17 Hockey Tournament with Hockey Canada.

Nic has had 2 strong years under his belt with the Steelheads and this past season was an Assistant captain as the Steelheads won the Eastern Conference.  Nic was also a member of the National U18 Team Canada at the Ivan Hlinka tournament.  Nic hasn’t forgotten his roots and has been seen at Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget games when in town or when the team is playing close to his residence.

Being drafted to the expansion Knights will provide Nic an outstanding opportunity to be part of something special from the ground up.

Congratulations Nic, KMHA and the Minor Midget AAA program are proud of you!!
