Minor Midgets Involved with "Give It A Try Program"
Working with KMHA and the Ontario Hockey Federation the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA hockey club continue to work within the community and give back through the Give It a Try Program.

Give It a Try Program introduces boys and girls to the game of hockey.  The Minor Midget AAA Jr. Rangers were part of this great event working with 61 skaters.   These young skaters ranged in skill level from never being on skates before to being able to stand up and skate with balance.

Each new player that attended received a Hockey Canada jersey that they got to keep and were fitted for skates, gloves, helmets and sticks to try to this great game.  Jr. Ranger players greeted each new skater with a smile, helping hand and a lot of encouragement for each skater.

Parents and grandparents watched in amazement and shed a few tears seeing their kids with big smiles, having fun and improving over the 90 minutes of ice time at Kiwanis arena.  As the skaters came off to change their excitement could be heard throughout the dressing rooms.

Comments such as:
"did you see I didn't fall?"
"I started with a helper and by the end I was skating on my own"
"When can we do this again"

The Jr. Ranger players weren't lost in the moment and had big smiles themselves seeing these young players improve and understand what a wonderful sport hockey is.
