13th Annual Capital Fall Classic

A great showing by the Minor Peewee A/AA Jr. Rangers at the 13th Annual Capital Fall Classic in Ottawa, ON.

The Minor Peewee A/AA Jr. Rangers packed up their gear and headed East on the weekend of October 20-22, 2017, to participate in the 13th Annual Capital Fall Classic...in Ottawa, ON.
The boys were very excited to hit the road, play against some high level AA teams from other centres, and enjoy the sites and sounds of the Capital City!
Only the top 4 teams in the entire age group move on to the semi-finals and the boys were ready for the challenge.
Our first game ended in a hard fought tie, 2-2, against a strong team from Stouffville.
Game 2 saw the Jr. Rangers play a solid game, earning a 4-0 victory over the Hillcrest Canadiens.
Our 3rd game on Saturday morning had the boys pitted against a top-ranked York Mills Rangers team..., and the boys learned the importance of being ready and coming out strong to start each game...falling behind 3-0 very quickly. It was a constant battle from that point on during the "Rangers vs Rangers" tilt, with the team suffering it's first loss of the tournament by a score of 5-2.
The mood before our 4th game, against the Humber Valley Sharks, was much different...and from the first drop of the puck, the Jr. Rangers came out flying.  Playing arguably their most complete game of the season to date, the team won by a decisive margin of 5-0...limiting the Sharks to single digit shots.
When the dust had settled with all the scores from all games coming in, the Jr. Rangers fell just shy of making it to the semi-final showdowns...finishing a very respectful 5th out of 12 teams...and missing out by only 1 point.
All in all it was a great experience for players and parents alike.  Playing some high level hockey, site-seeing in the city, fun times in the pool, a super pot-luck party in the lobby...and seeing some very "interesting" breakfast combinations by some of the boys in the hotel...it was definitely a tournament to remember.
Way to go Jr. Rangers...Looking forward to our next tournament in December!
