Bantam Blue Team gets Shout-out from Mayor!!
The Bantam Blue team represented with class again as they donned their jerseys, and collected donations of food and money for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Mayor Berry Vrbanovic gave the team a couple of shout-outs on his twitter feed for showing their Christmas Spirit, saying you are "never to young to volunteer!"

Our team approached the Food Bank to find out how we could help give back to our community.  They advised they were challenged with volunteers for the days right before Christmas in their grocery program. They needed help in the local grocery stores asking patrons for donations. The team split up to work 2 hour shifts at 3 separate Zehrs locations in the city.  Parents helped supervise the boys at the various stores.

We had a team of parents and players work Thursday at the Stanley Park Zehrs, a larger team worked both doors on Friday at the Conestoga Mall Zehrs, and Coach Al along with other parents and players worked on Saturday before a game at the Hiway Market Zehrs.  The players handed out bags, and pointed out suggested items that were needed to ensure families in our region could enjoy a good meal for the holiday season. They also collected cash donations to be put toward more food for the hungry.

The players were very successful in their efforts, and each group filled their donation bins and collected cash for food for the hungry. The players felt great being able to do something to give back to the community.  We are very proud of the effort the boys put forth to help fill the gap the Food Bank had in the grocery program for Christmas.
