Rangers Shock 99ers
The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Red team shocked the Brantford 99er with two goals in the final 35 seconds of the game and 22 seconds apart to win 3 to 2 Sunday night.

The Rangers appeared to sleep walk through most of the game but were ignited in the 3rd period after going down a goal. Jacob Reid-Brant had his first goal of the game to tie the game at one, from Daniel Gubbels, and then tied the game again, this time at two, with his second goal of the game, from Ryan McConnell and Yianni Peppas. Reid-Brants second goal was scored with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker. With the teams at even strength Gubbels scored a clutch goal for the win from Carter Niall.

It wasn’t a good game by the Rangers and the team hung goaltender Aiden Radatus out to dry at times. Radatus faced five breakaways in the game and made several key saves to keep the score scoreless for most the game. Radatus remained mentally strong and put in a great performance for the team.

Kodi Blackshaw and Noah Park were solid for the Rangers and were on for a key penalty kill for the Rangers. Kailum Belanic and Peppas were dependable as always and ended the game being +15 and +16 respectively on the season. Logan Hock and Keenan Hack helped the team hem the 99ers in the zone late in the game and turn the tide slightly.

Jacob Fisher was strong on the forecheck as was Nicholas Zammit and Ethan Lafleur. Aydan Costello was defensively sound all game and really did a good job moving the puck in all three zones. Connor Coughlin definitely showed up for the game and played some rugged hockey driving to the net hard and battled for pucks in the corners.

The coaches and players expected a better effort but nothing can be taken away from the 99ers. They came ready to compete and played an exceptional game. That said, the Rangers players are eager to make up for the lackluster performance and will battle hard in practices to be ready.

Go Rangers.
