Rangers Return to League Play with Win!
The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Red team returned to league play after back to back tournament weekend and beat the London Bandits 3 to 1 Sunday night.

The Rangers lacked intensity and that could be blamed on the fact the team had played two straight weekends in do or die type situations.

Braxton Mathews however did show up with intensity and played a fantastic game for the Rangers. He was really sharp all game but saved his best for the Rangers with the team up 2 to 1 by making several highlight reel saves.

Aydan Costello also put in one terrific performance with a 2-goal game. His line was effective all night and went to the net hard and passed the puck very well. Nicholas Zammit was a work horse and had two assists in the game. Zammit played determined and battles hard for the Rangers. Ethan Lafleur chipped in two assists and made several nice plays with his line mates.

Ryan McConnell and Jacob Fisher back checked hard for the Rangers and their center, Carter Niall, had some opportunities in the Bandits end. The speed of Daniel Gubbels and Jacob Reid-Brant drove the Bandits wild and the chippy and effective Connor Coughlin found the open net for the third Rangers goal.

Yianni Peppas and Kailum Belanic were both plus two on the night and looked sharp on the power play. Keenan Hack and Logan Hock played a strong game and Hack made some key plays as Hock was effective moving the puck up the ice well. Noah Park was a stand out with his strong play and never gives up and Kodi Blackshaw made some awesome passes as he head manned the puck to open forwards.

The win was ugly to be honest but good teams find ways to win and the Rangers have a week of important practices and skills sessions to get things back on track. The team spoke briefly about how they need to pick up their play in certain areas and know exactly what must be done to right the ship. The players have the desire to work hard and improve which is encouraging and most important.
