PINK the RINK 2017
What a fantastic weekend of hockey and team fun! There's nothing quite like tournament Sunday hockey!
Our Pink the Rink tournament weekend started with solid 6-4 win over Whitby. There was plenty of scoring, as well as some very strong defensive play against one extremely talented Whitby player! Our next game ended in a 2-1 loss to Aurora. The team fought hard but just couldn't seem to find the back of the net. After the game, everyone went back to the hotel for a well deserved break with some fun in the pool and hotel hallways!
Saturday morning we played Etobicoke and punched our ticket to the quarter final with a 5-3 win! Way to go! Our afternoon included enjoying fun team building activities. We had a scavenger hunt, 'pinked out' the coaches and training staff and decorated Coach Chris with lipstick, pink eyelashes and of course, whipped cream! On Saturday evening, the girls played the best game of the tournament so far with a solid 3-1 win over Aurora. The girls celebrated with some more hotel fun after the game! Unfortunately, our weekend ended earlier than we wanted with a loss to Brampton (the eventual tournament winners) in the semi-finals on Sunday morning. The girls fought hard again, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score, but with just under 6 minutes of game time remaining, Brampton scored on a power play and then sealed the deal with an empty net goal late in the third period.
It is a lot of fun to win games, but its even more fun to build teams and new friendships! Way to go Lady Rangers! We are very proud of you! Let's take all we have learned over our first tournament weekend and use it to keep getting better as we play throughout the season! GO LADY RANGERS!
