FALLFEST GOLD
Our Bantam A’s prepared for the 24th Annual Fallfest tournament after reaching the half way point of our LLFHL schedule chasing an undefeated Brampton team. Preparations began Thursday evening with a team dinner, chalk talk, and collecting donations for the Fallfest “Silent Auction”.

Our four team division included both Mississauga Chiefs, Saugeen Maitland Lightning from our Lower Lakes loop and a “major” strong Whitby Wolves team. Our Rangers game 1 had the Chiefs capitalize on a power play/goalie pull to salvage a 1-1 tie with 25 seconds remaining. Rangers game 2 had the Lightning up 3 goals in the first period finishing the game with a 3-2 win. A  re group overnight had our Rangers play the Wolves Saturday in our “big house” at the Auditorium in game 3 of our final round robin game. A second period goal by “DeJong” is all the team needed for a 1-0 win.

All four Bantam A teams were tied with 3 points after round robin play going into the semi finals having our Rangers play the home team Mississauga Chiefs. Early first period goals 33 seconds apart, shut out goaltending and an empty netter provided a 3-0 win advancing our Rangers to the Championship final Sunday morning. A re match with the Whitby Wolves had both teams play to a suspenseful 0-0 tie in regulation time. Overtime had the teams play 3 on 3. A defensive coast to coast play ended behind the Wolves net with a quick feed to the slot for the game winner ! A thrilling finish for GOLD !

Congratulations to our entire Ranger team and coaching staff with MVP honors to Rachel, Frankie and Emily for a successful tournament.

Our Bantam A’s thank the Fallfest tournament committee, volunteers and officials for a job well done, wish the participating teams the best in their season, and a special thanks to our Kitchener Major Midget AAA’s for their hospitality.
