The Kitchener Lady Rangers Midget “A’s”
brought home the Gold from the London Devilettes 28th Annual
February Tournament.
After what could be described as “August” hockey, the ladies opened the tournament struggling to find some flow against the Etobicoke Dolphins. Playing a stronger “game 2” against the London Devilettes #654, the ladies found themselves closing out day one with four points. In a reversal of days, day two had the ladies playing perhaps their strongest game of the season against the Oakville Hornets. Playing hard, playing smart and generating many great opportunities, it was only through some “Lady Ranger like” goaltending that the Hornets held on to grab a point of their own. Tied in all categories (except penalty minutes!!), the ladies finished 2nd overall earning a berth in the semi’s.
Playing the West Division Champion London Devilettes #657, the ladies managed to find a way to get it done. Shots on net, no matter how limited, are always good shots. The finals brought a “game 3” rematch with the Hornets. Continuing their strong play, the ladies exercised good “choices and options”, limited Oakvilles opportunities and put another quality “shot on net” to go up by one. A late empty netter “from the knees” sealed the “W” and the Gold.
Strong goaltending, steady D-Zone play, smart offense and shots “on the net” will continue to make you successful. Remember what the true purpose of weekend was for.
