When
selecting a hockey club, the Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA team not only look at
the player on the ice but also the player as a member of our community and a
role model to other Jr. Rangers players within the Kitchener Minor Hockey
Association system.
Each week we'll profile a member of the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA
hockey club, so you'll get to know them a little more outside of their play on
the ice.
This week we're proud to introduce #9 Reilly McMahon.
Reilly is a right shooting forward who stepped on the ice and learned to skate at the age of 5 and never looked back. Reilly has been a Jr. Rangers since the age of 8. Away from the rink you’ll see Reilly shooting baskets or shooting pucks in his driveway. A couple of doors and windows may have been replaced.
Reilly’s the youngest of two kids in the household and has an older brother. The go to meal for Reilly is steak, potatoes and asparagus. With Reilly’s sense of humour we know why he likes that combination. Dessert is up there on the list too because per Reilly, “My mom makes the best pies!!”.
You’ll see Reilly strolling the halls of St. Mary’s high school in town where he says Science is his favourite subject and History is a little lower down that list. Reilly is another multi sport athlete on this year’s team. If he’s not putting on hockey equipment, you’ll find Reilly on the ball diamond playing high level baseball. Like in hockey, Reilly can play multiple positions in baseball. When not playing hockey, baseball or eating that extra slice of pie for dessert, Reilly enjoys working out, hanging out with friends at the cottage and his weekly Yoga sessions with the team. That’s a busy schedule, so yes sleep is also one of his favourite pastimes.
Reilly is a Toronto Maple Leaf fan and lists champion swimmer Michael Phelps as his favourite athlete. In the little bit of spare time Reilly has he’ll kick off his crocks and watch Napoleon Dynamite or hang out with his best friend and teammate Angelo Duscio.
Reilly has a great sense of humour and finds the humourous side of many situations. His quick wit and smile are his trade mark that allows him to remind us it’s a great game and it’s meant to be fun.
