When selecting a hockey club, the
Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA team not only look at the player on the ice but
also the player as a member of our community and a role model to other Jr.
Rangers players within the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association system.
Each week we'll profile a member of the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA
hockey club, so you'll get to know them a little more outside of their play on
the ice.
This week we're proud to introduce #10 Josh Cornfield
Josh is a right shot defenseman with the Kitchener Jr. Rangers who has been skating and playing hockey since the age of 2. He’s been a Jr. Ranger for 6 years. He lives by the words “the bigger they are the harder they fall” and that type of attitude and desire may be one of the reasons Josh has been fortunate enough to win 5 Alliance Championship. Josh is a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and his favourite player is San Jose Sharks Defenseman Erik Karlsson.
He’s oldest in his family and has one younger brother. He also has a pet dog named Hattrick. Josh made sure to mention that he also has 17 other brothers with his 2nd family – his Jr. Rangers teammates and he loves them all!! His favourite meal is chicken pasta and broccoli which gets washed down with his drink of choice – a tall cold glass of milk. That milk also goes great with brownies. Josh says, “my mom makes the best brownies!!” Delicious brownies with cold milk add up to a great combination Josh.
While attending St. David’s High School Josh says Math is his best subject and History is ranked his least favourite. Josh received a 97% mark in Math and the Allstate academic award in grade 9. There are no favourite movies on his list, but Josh says his favourite song is Pull Up by Lil Mosey.
When you see Josh around the rink ask him to tell you about one of his favourite hockey memories which was when he had the opportunity to play against Japan for the Toyota Cup in Minor Bantam. He loved spending time with the Japanese team and learning their culture.
When not at the rink playing hockey, you’ll find Josh shooting pucks, working out, riding his bike, hanging out with friends or playing PS4. He also possesses the unique talent of being able to juggle and solve the Rubik’s Cube.
