Meet Your Minor Midget AAA Players - #91 Matt Sop
When selecting a hockey club, the Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA team not only look at the player on the ice but also the player as a member of our community and a role model to other Jr. Rangers players within the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association.

Each week we'll profile a member of the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA hockey club, so you'll get to know them a little more outside of their play on the ice.

This week we're proud to introduce #91 Matt Sop.

Matt is a left shot forward for the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA hockey club.  He started skating when he was 3 and has been a Jr. Ranger for 9 years.  When watching Matt, you'll notice how skilled he is with the puck and his high hockey IQ.  Matt makes a lot of difficult skill plays look easy and he does it at full speed.

Matt is an only child so he doesn't have to fight for leftovers of his pregame meal of bacon chicken pasta.  Matt says his mom makes a mean salmon!!  Like many of his teammates Matt attends Victus Academy where he says History is his favourite subject and Science is his least favourite.  Matt will bust a move to his favourite song Yellow by Cold Play and Step Brothers is his favourite movie.

Like in the movie Step Brothers, Matt likes to do lots of activities.  He's a multi sport athlete.  Matt has played high level lacrosse for 7 years.  When not at the rink or playing Lacrosse Matt likes to go for bike rides, shoot pucks, play basketball or hang out with his teammates.  On other days he takes great pleasure in beating teammate Braeden Bowman in NHL 19.

Matt is Toronto Maple Leaf fan and his favourite player in the NHL is Patrick Kane.  Vince Lombardi's quote, "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up" are words that inspire Matt.  Matt's best hockey memory to date is winning the Ottawa Bell Capital Cup Tournament in overtime.

Known as Soppy to his teammates, Matt says every teammate on this years Jr. Rangers are his best friends.  Being so busy a as a multi sport athlete, hanging out with his teammates and playing NHL 19 we don't know how Matt has time to travel but his passport has stamps from France, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Switzerland in it.

We're very proud and fortunate to have Soppy as such a role model and member of the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AAA hockey program.
