Silver in Clarington
The Kitchener Lady Rangers first tournament of the season was an excellent test against some strong Senior A competition and strong Intermediate A teams in a mixed Senior A division.

The tournament started against Whitby Intermediate A, the East division champions from last season.  The girls came out with speed and Whitby was not able to respond and we ended up winning 6-2.  Our next game was against Scarborough Sharks Senior A.  It was evident from the start that Scarborough was an experienced team and they controlled the play and took advantage on the power play to win 3-1.  Next was the Aurora Senior A team and we were able to use our team speed and passing to dominate 4-1.  Sunday morning semi-final was against our tournament rivals, Saugeen.  Saugeen played their normal tough style and we responded with a hard fought 2-1 win.  This game was a great test and the team pulled together to beat a strong team.  The final was against Scarborough who went through the tournament unbeaten.  We started fast and kept ahead of the experienced Scarborough squad until the third period where Scarborough controlled the play on the power play to go up 3-2.  We outplayed and outshot Scarborough 28-18 but they capitalized on their chances and despite a strong push to tie the game with our goalie pulled, they were able to get the empty net goal for a final score of 4-2.

Congratulations to all of the girls who battled hard for the whole tournament and finished with a silver medal.  There was some great team building and memories made.
