Great Tournament Performance at Bolts & Hearts
This past weekend, the team competed strongly at the Durham West Bolts and Hearts Tournament in Ajax.  The focus for this tournament was to work on our systems and plays and the girls did a great job.  Although we finished with another tournament silver, we have set the foundation for a strong finish to the season.

Our first game was against Peterborough on Friday evening.  Peterborough finished second in the Eastern division of Lower Lakes with a strong 16-1-5 record.  However, they were no match for our speed and puck control and we beat them with a strong performance 4-2.  Later Friday night, we were up against the Saugeen tournament team. We played one of our strongest games of the year and were up early with a 2-0 lead using our superior speed and passing.  The score stayed the same until the 3rd period when Saugeen responded with two quick goals to tie things up.  Both teams battled hard and with 20 seconds left in the third, Kristen Dahmann scored the winning goal on a great pass from Christy Fleming on a 2 on 1 to seal the deal.  The next morning, we played Brampton and dominated from the start to win 3-0.  The Brampton goalie was spectacular stopping 50 shots.  Had it not been for her stellar play, it could easily have been a very lopsided score.  The next morning we played the tournament host team, Durham West Lightning in the semi's.  Ashley Armstrong scored early to give us a 1-0 lead and that's how it finished despite our team out-shooting Durham 39-10.  So, once again we faced Saugeen in the final.  It was again a great game with the play going end to end.  Overall we dominated the play but the Saugeen goalie made some great saves on sure goals.  However, early in the third period, Saugeen scored on a questionable goal with the net dislodged and then added another on a great shot to go up 2-0.  That's how it finished despite our strong pressure with the goalie pulled for 6 on 5 for two minutes.  We had several chances but just couldn't beat the strong defense and goaltending put up by Saugeen.  Overall however, a strong tournament for our team and we gained a lot of information on how to beat our opponents going into Provincials.  Congratulations Ladies on another strong tournament performance.
