Rangers Ground the Hawks
Game Captain Bradley Wigmore led the Rangers Red on the ice to face the West London Hawks.

Rangers Red got back to their winning ways with a strong team win against their rivals West London Hawks.  A strong start that saw the Rangers score 3 goals in the first period and direct 14 shots on the Hawks net.  Spencer McCormick opened the scoring with his first of the year assisted from Owen Stewart.  This was followed up two minutes later by a big goal from Daniel Deckert who was just getting started in this game assisted by Noah Raymond.  Before the end of the period a strong rush from defenceman Eric MacPherson led to a great rebound goal assisted by Deckert.

The Rangers took a 3-2 lead into the 2nd period and 45 seconds into the period Deckert struck for his second of the game with helpers going to Noah Raymond and Tyler Kramp.  Just over a minute later Ashton Liddell playing in his first game of the season scored a big goal to put the Rangers up for good off of a rebound assisted from Sam Clark and Rowan Dunlop to give the visiting squad a 5-2 lead.

Defensively the Rangers were led by the D pairings of Ethan Goetz and Eric MacPherson who were strong in the D zone, provided some offence and made some great heads up passes.  The pairing of Owen Stewart and Bradley Wigmore were solid in making good outlet passes and making good decisions when jumping up into the rush.

Goaltender Max Thompson earned his 2nd win of the year staying solid in the third period when the Hawks started to swarm the Rangers near the tail end of the 3rd period.  Ethan Goetz took home the Workhorse of the Game for his solid defensive play, shotblocking, netfront battles, and great outlet passes.

The boys brought to this game what we practiced and talked about all week long moving the puck up the ice and getting to the net in the O Zone which directly led to all of our 5 goals.  Next up another road trip heading down to Burlington to face the Bulldogs on Sunday night.

Go Red Go!
