Rangers Red Continue Strong Play Against Bulldogs
Game Captain Spencer McCormick led the Rangers Red onto the ice to take on the Bulldogs of Burlington.

The Rangers continue their unbeaten streak to 10 games with another solid team effort from start to finish to beat the Bulldogs 5-0 and sweep the home and home series on the season.

The first period saw another quick start from the boys in blue which has been a consistent theme from the boys since the new year.   Just over two minutes in on a hard shot from the point set up by Daniel Deckert Bradley Wigmore unloaded to give the Rangers the lead.  Exactly 3 minutes later off a blistering rebound created by a big shot from Sean Disbrow, Spencer McCormick gave the Rangers Red a 2-0 lead to close out the first period.

The 2nd period saw a bunch more chances from the Rangers creating a lot of O zone time using pressure and cycling the puck down low.  Just over a minute into the frame Joel Guse put the Rangers up by 3 roofing a rebound after some great work by Bradley Wigmore and Rowan Dunlop to create the chance.

The third period was more of the same for the Rangers as they continued to create chances off the rush and playing heavy in the O zone on the forecheck.  A couple minutes into the third Sam Clark ripped home the 4th goal by the Rangers on some good work down low from his linemates Joel Guse and Rowan Dunlop who drew assists on the goal.  The boys went on the penalty kill late in the game, Brett Peeler and Noah Raymond went to work using his speed and puck pursuit to free up a puck and then Peeler put it in the roof of the net on the backhand.  Brody Voll also drew an assist on the play.

Max Thompson made a few key saves at big moments in the game that kept the momentum in our favour and a couple big ones in the third period to preserve his 3rd shutout of the season.

Missing a couple of key defenders with injuries for the past two games, Alex Hamilton filled in and played very strong for the Rangers.  His shutdown defending and ability to read opportunities to jump up in the play earned him the Workhorse of the Game.

Our defensive unit as a whole have played very well since the new year limiting quality chances of our opposition and contributing offensively almost every single game.  Our forward lines are firing on all cylinders as most games all three lines are scoring and playing smart hockey at both ends of the ice.

Next up a big test as we take on Waterloo in their home barn on Sunday.

Go Rangers Red Go!
