CAN/AM Challenge - Bronze Medal Winners
We had the BEST weekend of hockey in Lake Placid, this Tournament will be difficult to match!

Our Rangers had a fantastic performance, obtaining the most goals for in the Peewee Division...21 goals for and just 4 goals against, making that the Tournaments top GF%. We ended up with 4 wins and just 1 loss and yet somehow missed out on the Gold Medal game with a head to head loss of 2-1 in an unlucky round robin draw against a strong "AAA" '07 team. They went on to win it all 4-0 in the Gold Medal game against a Toronto '07 single "A" team that we never had an opportunity to face. That's tournament hockey for you, but we couldn't be more PROUD of this group that had a fantastic weekend of hockey and probably played their most complete team game of the season in the Bronze Medal game to secure the hardware with a 6-0 Win as they refused to go home empty handed after such a strong performance all weekend long!

The Lake Placid CAN/AM Challenge Cup was a fantastic experience to say the least.
We were asked if our '08's would like to play up a year in the top Peewee '07 division and our team was up for the challenge and gladly accepted...
It all began with a surprise pick up for the boys with the Jr. Ranger bus at 5:45am Thursday morning. We were the envy of the Village the entire weekend with other teams taking photos of our team bus as we became known as "the Canadian team with their own COOL bus". The view from our hotel as we arrived into Lake Placid was nothing short of spectacular!

Thursday afternoon began with a family skate on the "Miracle on Ice", 80's Olympic rink. The entire team as well as family members took to the ice to kick off the weekend with a pretty special experience. The boys also took this opportunity to make some new friends from around the Tournament.

In true Olympic fashion, the boys participated in an opening ceremony, where all 54 teams were introduced and the National Anthems were sang by a young lady to kick off the weekend of hockey. The boys weren't the only one's getting in on the fun. The parents had "team bonding" of their own! The Pre-game fire pit at the Pickled Pig also became a tradition of the weekend, with plenty of stories and laughs to make this a memorable experience for the parents as well.

To add to the excitement of the weekend, several players from our team participated in the skills competition where our four boys on the relay team (Tyson, Matteo, Jordan, Nolan) went onto the semi-finals as well as our break-away shooter (Carson S.)... Cooper Marsh was the top Goalie of 16 Goalies in the Peewee Division, winning the Shoot-out challenge and taking home the Trophy. Not bad for a team that was competing with players a year older, bigger and stronger.

With a few hours to spare on Saturday, we decided to take a trip out to the USA Olympic training Centre. The boys had the opportunity to see the ski jump as well as bob sled venues that hosted the 1980 Winter Olympics. We missed the athlete training by just one week but it was still incredible to witness first hand.

All and all this was likely the most amazing tournament many of us have been part of. The team had an opportunity to play some fantastic hockey as well as make life long memories. The parents were smiling all weekend long and couldn't say enough positive things about the experience. The boys found some success bringing home the Bronze Medal and became even tighter and a more united group if that is even possible. What more could you ask for from a weekend away together with 45 friends that made the trip one that we won't forget anytime soon.
Way to go RANGERS.... we are so Proud of you and can't wait to see what our next chapter of the season holds for us.
