Thank you to Cambridge for putting on one Awesome tournament. Our team, parents and staff had a great time.
I would like to also congratulate Kitchener Red on their win and for one great game forcing the OT which turned into a shout-out.
We are very proud of our Kitchener Blue team... we took 14 out of 15 points in the round-robin to clinch home advantage going into the semi and final games.
The teams in the round-robin had their own set skills which we had to adjust to and adapt our game to before we were able to come out with the win. The games were all fast pace with lots of end to end action. It didn't matter about the passing, special teams or even set plays all the goalies played great in our division. It just took the right opportunity to put it by the goalie to get the wins. This was a goal tenders tournament for our division. The goalies on every team played great and it carried over into the semi and final games.
Semi finals vs Cambridge was a grinding fast pace game. You can tell each team was hungry for the win. The scoring was going back and forth which resulted in OT. Of course nothing was settled in OT and a shoot-out was next. Cambridge was not able to put one past us and team Blue was able to score on our shot #3 to take the win and move onto the finals against Kitchener Red.
Finals Kitchener Blue Vs Kitchener Red. Team Blue was on a high in the change room ready to face team Red and show them what we had. We did come out strong scoring quickly and grabbing a 2-0 lead after the first period. Second period we were up 3-0 before Red made it a 3-2 game going into the 3rd. With the fast pace and physical game that was going on Blue was not able to capitalize and get that much needed 4th goal and Red tied it up forcing Overtime. You want to see hockey.... Blue vs Red 4 on 4 is really something you should watch.... both teams fast skating and puck movement end to end action but nothing was settled. Now for the second time today Blue was going to a shout-out. Well again last shot won the game .... it just happened to be Red shooting last. Congratulations goes out to Team Red for the win. Team Blue a huge congratulations to you as well for a great tournament were everyone gave 100% ... you played as a team and it showed. Onto the next tournament in a few weeks. The parents and coaching staff are very proud of you.
