Rangers Open Season on a High
The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Red team opened their season with a convincing 9 to 1 win over the Cambridge Hawks Friday night.

The game was a spirited match with the Rangers collecting 14 minutes in penalties and the Hawks collecting 37 minutes in the game. The Rangers also managed to top 50 shots in the game.

Both Josh McDonald and Connor Coughlin had two goal games while Jacob Reid-Brant collected 4 assists.

Stephen Peppas opened the scoring from Reid-Brant and McDonald. Matt Gallant picked up a power play goal from Toby Pryce and Jake Fisher. McDonald had a power play marker from Reid-Brant and Kodi Blackshaw. Evan Peori scored from Coughlin and Chad Morris. Noah Park, typically a defender, playing this evening as a forward, was rewarded with a goal from Coughlin. Coughlin had a power play goal from Quinten Earle and Reid-Brant. McDonald scored from Blackshaw. Morris scored from Reid-Brant and Earle and Coughlin finished the scoring from Caleb Cumming and Peori.

Aiden Radatus was solid in net when called upon. The only goal against was when the Rangers were down two men in the opening frame. Radatus was focused and did a great job limiting any chances.

The Rangers were missing two key players in Logan Duke and Denver Heiman. Both players will hopefully join the team very shortly which will help continue to build the lines chemistry. Although it took the Rangers a little to find their groove, they had moments of brilliance, and you can see how deep and talented the team truly will play.

Next up the Rangers will host the Burlington Bulldogs White next weekend.

Go Rangers!
