Halton Hills Thunder Memorial Tournament - Day 1
The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Red team had a successful opening day with a pair of wins over London based teams. The Rangers topped the West London Hawks in the morning 3 to 2 and were on fire against the Bandits winning 5 to 0.

Against West London Owen Neomytka was stellar and kept the Hawks at bay with key saves early and late in the game. Neomytka moved in his crease very well and made sure he limited any second chances.

Caleb Cumming opened the scoring from Jacob Reid-Brant and Chad Morris. Morris then scored from Cumming and Connor Coughlin before Stephen Peppas potted the game winner from Toby Pryce and Kodi Blackshaw.

Aiden Radatus continued his shutout streak and hasn’t been beaten for over 6 periods. Radatus steered shots into the corners and was a calm presence for the Rangers.

Evan Peori opened the scoring from Josh McDonald and Denver Heiman. Logan Duke had a pair of goals and it very well would have been a hattrick but his goal that went off the back crossbar was too fast for the ref to call legal. Duke’s first goal was set up by Quinten Earle and Jake Fisher and his second goal was from Blackshaw. Coughlin had a beauty from Noah Park and Reid Brant and Matt Gallant scored on the powerplay from McDonald and Earle.

The Rangers showed good disciple in what were a couple rough matches and moved the puck well. Despite the perfect record the team has a couple adjustments to make before heading back to Brampton to face the Brantford 99ers Saturday afternoon to wrap up the round robin.

If the team keeps the strong back check and fore check going and move the puck like they did in game one they will continue to win games.

Great start Rangers!
