In this episode, more details on our community give back event and our G&G times for this weekend.
Fraze is away for a couple days
The Frazers had a few days scheduled away during a quiet period in our schedule. Since then, we’ve added a community give back, an extra practice and a session at G&G. Sorry to be missing so much fun! Coach David is away from November 19-23 (inclusive). Just some R&R in preparation for the Burlington tournament 😊 Wayne Barnard has graciously agreed to help out at practice etc during my absence.
Community Give Back - Build-A-Bag Angels Program
In an effort to help build the character of our favourite Kitchener Jr Rangers, we are doing a community give back event this season. Covid has shifted many things in our community and the need for outreach has never been greater or more visible. As such, we will be doing a community giveback event on Monday November 22 at 5:30PM.
Each family is being asked to donate $25 for this charity event. Funds should be brought to the event and team leaders will manage the money.
We have decided to support the Build-A-Bag Angels program and have the players actively do the work. This charity supports young people in the foster care system, who sometimes fall outside of the reach of Child and Family Services. Players will work in groups with adult supervision and support if/as needed to shop from a pre-set list on their donation budget to fill a backpack for a 12 year old child.
Players are asked to meet at 5:30PM at the Starbucks in the Sunrise Centre. Map can be found here. Parents are invited to have an informal social while the kids participate in their event at the Kelsey’s in the plaza. The event will conclude at 6:30PM at the water fountain outside South Street Burger. A representative from the organization will come speak with our boys at that point to explain a bit more how their activity and actions will positively impact other children in our community. They will collect our donations at that time for distribution as well. Event end time should be no later than 6:45PM.
We are in need of some parent volunteers to join each group. Full details can be found here.
