Ep9 – Oshawa tourney, Holiday Break, Health Screening, Victus, Burlington
In episode 9 we explore the Oshawa Tournament,  Holiday Break, Health Screening, Victus Academy Invites and Final Prep for Burlington

Howdy Ranger Fans!

Final Prep for Burlington

We’re almost set for the upcoming Burlington tournament!   Looking forward to a good night’s rest and a bright start to tomorrow morning.  Let’s aim to arrive 60 minutes prior to ice time for our first game.  Just to avoid any gremlins with travel, tournament prep etc.    Our full schedule is listed here.  Our first game is at 10:30am.  So, see everyone at Appleby Arena around 9:30am.  Permit and rosters have been submitted.  All we need now is our best attitudes and best effort from the players!

Victus Academy Invites

KMHA has a letter of understanding with Victus Academy to partner on hockey opportunities for our players,  To that end, I’m pleased to include a couple open information sessions in case you’d like more information.

Monday November 29, 6:30-7:30pm (Elementary Focus)
Tuesday November 30, 6:30-7:30pm (High School Focus)

Don’t know about Victus?  Click here for details.  If you are interested, please approach Coach David for more information and an introduction to Todd Hoffman, the Director of Student Athlete Development at Victus.

Health Screening

Here’s a quick recap of the note to parents from Monday, from our Trainer Scott to make sure everyone is being diligent in following our safety protocols.

1.      Please remain diligent in completing a health screening for every event/icetime for the team

2.      We will be assigning a rotating team rep to assist with following these safety protocols

3.      Don’t forget any guest (grandparents, aunts, uncles etc) need to be screened using the app as well.  Please use the “Bring a Guest” feature in the app.

If it means that we get to keep playing hockey without losing ice times or suffering penalties - then I think we would all share the opinion that it is worth the effort.  Thanks for your cooperation!

Holiday Break

To give families a bit of a reprieve we will not be scheduling any additional ice over the holiday break.  We’re hoping families use the time to relax, recharge and come back to the new year with a renewed passion and interest for back half of the season.  With this advance notice, feel free to schedule any holiday family functions.

Oshawa Tournament + Hotels (Action Required by Nov 30)

Looks like we’re back in for the Oshawa tournament!  Our goal all season has been to offer a unique experience for our athletes and parents to develop little humans and have some fun with the parents too.  This puts a bit of a strain on your time and our budget, but we’re so excited to be welcomed back into the Oshawa tournament.  The Oshawa Cup tournament home web page can be found here.  The tournament is still showing on our calendar, but as a reminder it takes place January 20-23.  Scott has worked hard with the Oshawa organizers to try and avoid Thursday games to make travel / accommodations easier on families.

Please secure your hotel room by November 30 if you wish to stay down at the Holiday Inn Express in  Bowmanville (East of Oshawa).  Please follow this link to secure your hotel room.   Note there is a small arrangement fee that will be charged right away in order to secure your room.
